Tell your governor: Follow in Maine's footsteps and ban polystyrene plastic foam now
Subject: Follow in Maine's footsteps and ban polystyrene now
Your Letter:
We know the plastic waste in our oceans, rivers and lakes injures or kills wildlife. For a bird, fish or turtle, these small pieces of plastic are easily mistaken for food. It's clear we need to do something about plastic pollution -- and we can start by banning the worst of it: polystyrene foam -- what most of us call Styrofoam. Polystyrene plastic foam never fully degrades, leaving behind tiny particles that remain in the environment for centuries. Maine just became the first state in the U.S. to put a plastic foam cup and container ban on the books -- and other states aren't far behind. Nothing we use for just a few minutes should pollute our planet and endanger wildlife for centuries. Let's follow in Maine's footsteps and ban polystyrene plastic foam.
