Stand Up for Endangered Species

Since 1970, human beings have eliminated more than half the world's wildlife species. Worse, climate change, plastic pollution, habitat loss, the illegal wildlife trade, and other factors threaten to accelerate those losses.

For more than 45 years, the Endangered Species Act (ESA) has been one of the world's most powerful tools to save threatened and endangered species from extinction.

We should be strengthening the ESA -- not limiting its protections. Nonetheless, some in Congress and the Trump administration seem determined to weaken key protections for wildlife and habitat in the Endangered Species Act.

Help save threatened and endangered species from extinction. Tell your U.S. representative and senators to oppose efforts that would limit the ESA's protections for threatened and endangered wildlife.

As a constituent, I urge you to oppose any and all attempts to weaken the Endangered Species Act or limit the scope of its protections.

We need a strong Endangered Species Act now more than ever.

In just the last 50 years, human beings have eliminated more than half the world's wildlife species, according to the World Wildlife Fund. Worse, climate change, plastic pollution, habitat loss, the illegal wildlife trade, and other factors threaten to accelerate species loss.

In fact, many scientists say that we are on the brink of a human-caused mass extinction crisis in which we could lose three quarters of the world's species. Species simply cannot evolve quickly enough to survive significant human threats.

Congress should be strengthening this important law -- not finding ways to limit its protections.

Instead, the House Natural Resources Committee has advanced bills that would weaken this bedrock conservation law (H.R. 3608, H.R. 6345, H.R. 6346, and H.R. 6355) and eliminated ESA protections for gray wolves across the Lower 48 United States (H.R. 6748).

I strongly urge you to oppose each of these bills, along with the Trump administration's proposed changes to the US Fish and Wildlife Services work to save threatened and endangered species.

Science tells us that each species plays a vital role in its environment. We must not allow wildlife to be sacrificed in an ill-conceived rush to roll back environmental protections.
